We produce woodland management plans for a range of woodland types to UK Forestry Standards (UKFS). We specialise in broadleaf native woodland and Atlantic or Temperate Rainforest, and are focused on improving the biodiversity and resilience of woodlands. We support planting and management of commercial conifer woodland in the right place; we believe that the UK also needs a timber industry. Our management plans are developed to suit your site and your requirements, to a standard for submission to the Forestry Commission.
We also provide woodland management services on the ground; we can appoint contractors (see contracting below) and liaise with site staff to ensure high standards of management. Contact us to find out more:
Creating new woodland habitats is extremely rewarding. It is a big commitment for anyone to plan and deliver; we bring our expertise to projects and help you at every step. Through funding streams like the English Woodland Creation Offer (EWCO), English Woodland Grant Scheme (EWGS) or local Community Forest projects, we work with you to design very special new woodlands and secure funding. We will assess your project and advise which is the best option; we'll go through the process of securing funding; we then help you with project delivery (see contracting below).
If you have plans for a new woodland, whatever the size may be, please get in touch for an initial discussion:
Many landowners are finding that their traditional woodland income is declining, or is harder to realise. There is a much stronger focus on managing woodland for biodiversity and a gradual move away from simple management for timber value. This type of management can still produce timber, but it is a much more subtle and skilled series of interventions, and of lesser interest to commercial harvesting contractors.
Woodlands carry a much greater and more complex potential value; woodland natural capital includes carbon, biodiversity, timber, cultural and public access. We introduce and work with trusted partners to calculate alternative revenues for your woodland natural capital. Please contact us to discuss this further:
The Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT) for woodland is a new funding stream for woodland owners who are interested in delivering high biodiversity, heritage, climate resilience and cultural enhancements to their sites. Launched in summer 2025, the CSHT is currently an invitation only scheme for woodland owners who have suitable sites for effective delivery. The scheme is likely to open up more widely in due course. To apply via the pre-application process you must have an active and approved Woodland Management Plan, an approved felling licence plus any additional requirements like PA7 species management plans (where relevant).
We are actively taking estates through this new process; get in touch if you have been invited to apply, or if you need some advice:
Planting trees in the ground and getting them established; often the hardest part of the project having secured funding. Finding a woodland planting contractor can be a challenge; finding a good one even more so! We make it easy for you; we can manage the entire project or guide you through at the level that you are comfortable. We appoint skilled contractors and oversee the works on the ground, ensuring that your new woodland is delivered to the highest standard.
In addition, we have been working with Secure Forests CIC to develop a not-for-profit woodland creation and rural skills contracting team. Secure Forest CIC train former military and blue-lights personnel for a career in the sector.
